At Airmedic, our mission begins well before you become a member. Our priority is to support you from start to finish. Our agents handle this initial responsibility. Some questions frequently come up with our customer experience agents, and we’re happy to answer them.
Check out the 10 most popular questions about the coverage and evacuation services included in your Airmedic membership!

1. If someone in a group gets injured but isn’t an Airmedic member, can we still call Airmedic?
Yes. Airmedic’s air medical transport services are available to anyone within Quebec territory (citizens and non-citizens alike). As an Airmedic member, you receive this service free of charge anywhere in Quebec.
However, without an Airmedic membership, all costs will be the individual’s responsibility. We provide the cost estimate before the intervention, allowing you to accept or decline the transport without any surprises.
2. Does Airmedic only respond to major, serious injuries?
No. There is no such thing as a bad call for our dispatch center. We handle all cases and will deploy the fastest available transport to reach you. No injury is too minor, if in doubt, contact Airmedic. Our dispatch center is open 24/7, year-round, to provide support tailored to your situation, whether you are a member or not.
3. What are the ways to contact the Dispatch Center?
Several options are available depending on your location:
- Satellite phone : 1-418-673-3322
- Email via satellite device : [email protected]
- Cell phone : 1-877-999-3322
Additionally, Airmedic recommends using a satellite phone or a two-way radio in areas without network coverage. These devices ensure constant communication with our dispatch center, allowing continuous medical monitoring and personalized care.
4. Why is the 10-day temporary coverage limited to south of the 51st parallel?
Most evacuations occur south of this geographic line, especially in areas like the Monts-Valin, Gouin Reservoir, or the Basse-Côte-Nord. To the north, companies often already cover their clients with Airmedic memberships.
If you need to venture beyond this geographic boundary, you can opt for the 3-month coverage at a cost of $75, as well as the annual coverage for \$180.
5. How far north does Airmedic operate in the far North of Quebec?
Starting June 1, 2025, our coverage for individuals will only apply to the territory south of Quebec’s 52nd parallel. This decision aims to maintain the quality of our service while keeping competitive rates.
Airmedic remains the only private company offering safe and tailored medical assistance and air transport services for any emergency situation within Quebec. Our service points in Sept-Îles, La Romaine, Blanc-Sablon, and Radisson ensure rapid interventions, even in the most remote regions.
Please note that this change will have no impact on subscriptions purchased before June 1, 2025, even if the coverage period starts later.
6. Do you sell first aid kits for expeditions?
No. However, we recommend kits from Siriusmedx, a Quebec-based company. The “20” kit ($60) is a basic kit perfect for short trips and small groups. Whether you’re going camping or biking for a few hours to a few days, it contains everything needed to stabilize a patient and handle minor ailments. The “40” kit ($100), on the other hand, is suitable for groups or guides heading out for several days. Specifically designed for remote regions, it includes everything necessary to manage a wide range of major situations.
7. How do you prepare a helicopter landing site?
The site must measure at least 100 ft (30 m) by 100 ft (30 m), be flat, and free of obstacles. All natural elements should be less than 2 feet high. No fixed or moving objects should come into contact with the helicopter (trash bins, materials, debris, etc.). Mark the four corners, block and secure traffic, and keep the crowd at a safe distance.
As the helicopter approaches, establish eye contact with the pilot and wait for their signal before approaching.

8. Can an escort accompany the injured person in the helicopter during medical transport?
Unfortunately, no. Due to limited space on board, priority is given to medical care. We only allow an escort in exceptional cases or when the patient is a minor.
Animals are not allowed on board, except in exceptional cases approved by the medical team, for safety and hygiene reasons.
9. When receiving care, can patients choose their receiving hospital?
Airmedic transports the patient to the facility best suited to their health condition, which is not necessarily the closest one. Our teams consider several factors, including urgency, weather, and availability. We are committed to providing you with the most appropriate care for your condition, as quickly as possible. This decision is made with the support of a medical coordinator and an on-call physician.
10. Does Airmedic offer medical transport services internationally?
Yes. In case of a health issue abroad, Airmedic can arrange repatriation via commercial flight with medical escort or private air ambulance. Note that the choice of transport method depends on several factors, including distance. Our coordination center handles everything: planning with medical staff at the sending and receiving hospitals, booking transportation costs, supporting the family, agreements with carriers, and more.
This service is not included in the standard Airmedic membership. Airmedic regularly works with insurance companies, and this transport may be reimbursed by your coverage. It is therefore important to verify whether your travel insurance covers repatriations.
Airmedic can also provide repatriation services to uninsured individuals or those not eligible under their insurance policy. However, the individual must cover the repatriation costs and pay prior to the transport.
