Luxury and safety in nature
Located in the heart of one of the most remarkable forests in eastern Canada, Sacacomie Hotel offers an exceptional nature experience. The breathtaking landscapes, the majestic lake, and the numerous seasonal activities are all part of the magic of the place.
However, that’s not all! Safety plays a crucial role in the hotel’s daily operations. That’s why the hotel provides Airmedic’s air medical assistance and transport coverage to all its guests. Whether for a short stay or several days, every guest can relax and enjoy their favorite activities with complete peace of mind. In case of an emergency, Airmedic is ready to respond.
Pierre Roy, Director of Activities and Facilities, also designated as the guardian angel during emergencies, shares the hotel’s success story and highlights the importance of guest safety at Sacacomie Hotel.

Why do you offer Airmedic coverage to your guests at Sacacomie Hotel?
At Sacacomie Hotel, the safety of our guests is a priority. Therefore, we want to offer them an unforgettable experience in a safe environment. That’s why we have been proud Airmedic members for over six years. Indeed, being an Airmedic member provides peace of mind. It complements our emergency response plan in the event of a serious incident requiring a rapid and specialized intervention.

Do your employees have to participate in safety training?
All our tour guides and several members of the facilities department receive mandatory training. This includes off-road vehicle operation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use of a defibrillator, and first aid techniques in remote settings. Additionally, each department has at least two employees trained in CPR. Moreover, we raise awareness among all staff regarding safety measures and communication protocols.
In total, we have:
-
10 professional off-road vehicle guides;
-
12 employees holding a first aid certificate for remote areas;
-
16 members trained in CPR;
-
3 members trained in aquatic emergency care (AEC).

-
What safety equipment is made available to your guests in case of an accident?
In addition to the Airmedic membership, we have implemented a structured emergency plan. This includes an advanced communication system and specialized equipment available everywhere, at all times.
Communication system:
- All guides have a cell phone and a 5-channel FM band CB radio
- Three Spot X satellite phones are available, equipped with an SOS button and geolocation
- The hotel has a dedicated emergency phone line: 819-265-0911.
- Thirty CB radios are distributed throughout the hotel, connected to a private tower and the Internet.
Emergency equipment available:
- 2 adult and pediatric cardiac defibrillators
- 5 specialized first aid kits for hiking
- 15 first aid kits distributed across the hotel’s various departments
- 2 spinal boards
- Mobilization bags for transporting injured persons
- Backup motorized boats for water activities
- Ambulance sleds in winter and wheeled versions in summer
- 1 emergency first aid kit per guide, compliant with off-road vehicle (ORV) standards
The hotel is also equipped with a full sprinkler system, powered by two self-contained water reservoirs. These reservoirs ensure the sprinklers operate for 60 minutes. In addition, an electronic monitoring system connected to an external control center further enhances overall safety.
If an emergency call needs to be made, emergency stations have been installed throughout the Maskinongé RCM (an initiative by the Fire Department of the Municipality of Saint-Alexis-des-Monts in collaboration with the Maskinongé RCM) at strategic points in both the forest and along the roads. These stations, equipped with a number known to emergency services, make it easier to pinpoint the exact location of the incident.

Is the enhanced safety at Sacacomie Hotel an added value for your guests?
Guests often request an emergency response plan related to our facilities and activities, in addition to the associated certifications and accreditations. Having a clear, structured emergency plan, implemented by trained staff, reassures visitors and greatly enhances their experience.
