Airmedic Ready to Launch Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s New Air Medical Transport Program<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Qu\u00e9bec, February 29 \u2013 The rollout of Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s air medical transport (TMH)<\/a> program has reached a major milestone. Indeed, the Minister of Health has announced the construction of four helipads near the emergency departments of Roberval, Joliette, Sacr\u00e9-C\u0153ur-de-Montr\u00e9al, and the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). On this subject, Airmedic, a leader in helicopter medical evacuation, welcomes this important government initiative. <\/p>\n

A Long-Awaited TMH Program in Qu\u00e9bec<\/h3>\n

This project fulfills a campaign promise made in September 2022 by the Coalition Avenir Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n

The construction of helipads is essential to the full deployment of the TMH program. Therefore, it will enable an operator to transfer patients from several regions to specialized hospitals located in urban centers. In short, this program could save or preserve the lives of many patients each year. Yet, Qu\u00e9bec remains the only province without a public air medical transport program. <\/p>\n

Although Airmedic applauds the initiative, the Minister\u2019s announcement does not address program operations. \u201cThe operationalization should be entrusted to a private provider through a call for tenders. It must be open, competitive, qualitative, quantitative, transparent, and fair to optimize operational capabilities,\u201d said Sophie Larochelle, Chief Executive Officer of Airmedic. <\/p>\n

A Company Ready to Operate Province-Wide<\/h3>\n

Airmedic already has the necessary resources. The company operates a fleet <\/g>of helicopters, maintains hangars in several Qu\u00e9bec regions, and employs qualified maintenance personnel. Therefore, Airmedic is ready to operate the air medical transport service as soon as the program launches. <\/p>\n

The decision to equip the Roberval and Joliette hospitals with helipads will also have a major impact. Indeed, it represents another step forward in promoting cultural safety among First Nations communities. These hospitals serve Opitciwan and Manawan, which already rely on Airmedic\u2019s prehospital services. <\/p>\n

\u201cAirmedic has long supported First Nations communities. It is essential that the hospitals in Joliette and Roberval be ready to welcome their members more quickly,\u201d emphasized Ms. Larochelle.<\/p>\n
