We extend our deepest respect to our colleagues who lost their lives during an air medical transport mission<\/span> while assisting a patient in a remote and hard-to-reach area of Qu\u00e9bec.<\/span><\/p>

Olivier Blouin, S\u00e9bastien De Lutio, and S\u00e9bastien Groulx left us as heroes on June 20, 2025, remaining faithful to their mission until the very end. Their dedication, courage, and humanity will forever be etched in our memories. <\/span><\/p>

Our thoughts are with the families, loved ones, and colleagues affected by this loss, as well as with the family of our patient, to whom we offer our sincerest condolences. In their memory, we carry on our mission with the same solidarity that unites us, guided by the example they have left behind. <\/p>

It was through the Air Cadets that Olivier discovered, at a very young age, his passion for airplanes and helicopters. Being able to later incorporate it into his profession was, for him, a dream come true. <\/span><\/p>

He began his career at Dessercom in December 2018. After several years of dedicated service in the field, he joined Airmedic in 2024, a significant turning point in his professional journey. Proud of this new chapter, he bought a bag specifically designed for airlift missions, which he carefully decorated. A simple gesture, yet a clear reflection of his enthusiasm. Despite this new position, he continued to share his expertise as a paramedic in several municipalities. <\/span><\/p>

At Airmedic, Olivier quickly demonstrated a deep desire to contribute to our mission. By seamlessly integrating into the helicopter team and embracing his role, he quickly became a crew member his colleagues could always rely on. Always enthusiastic about heading out on missions and driven by a genuine desire to help others, he cherished every moment spent in flight. A true quiet force, he played a key role in numerous helicopter prehospital transports that had a real impact on the lives of many patients and their loved ones. His involvement in the medical coverage of the Formula 1 Grand Prix is a perfect example of his dedication and professionalism. A promising career lay ahead of him. <\/span><\/p>

Olivier was a man of action and adventure. Bright, warm, and passionate, he could comfort with a single word, bring a smile, and offer help with disarming simplicity. Generous and always there for others, he left a lasting mark wherever he went. <\/span><\/p>

He had plans, dreams, and a beautiful road ahead of him. He leaves behind the cherished memory of a kind soul loved by all and deeply respected. <\/span><\/p>

S\u00e9bastien was a calm, discreet, authentic, and deeply caring person. Always smiling, he embraced life with contagious energy. <\/span><\/p>

An exceptional pilot, he had over 30 years of experience, including 29 with the Canadian Armed Forces and 2 with the Airmedic team. After earning his pilot\u2019s license from the C\u00e9gep de Chicoutimi, he began his career flying a seaplane before joining the Armed Forces in 1996. In 1999, he became part of the 430 Tactical Helicopter Squadron in Valcartier. <\/span><\/p>

His military career led him to take part in several major operations: Operation Palladium in Yugoslavia, Operation Hestia in Haiti, as well as a deployment to Afghanistan from 2007 to 2008. He also served at the headquarters of the 5th Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group in Valcartier and later as a search and rescue pilot with the 439 Combat Support Squadron in Bagotville. <\/span><\/p>

At Airmedic, his passion and expertise greatly contributed to the success of many critical medical transport missions. Affectionately nicknamed Lulu, S\u00e9bastien was a highly skilled pilot whose dedication to mentoring and supporting his colleagues was remarkable. Always ready to lend a hand, he inspired trust through his calm demeanor, kindness, and reassuring presence. <\/span><\/p>

Very active, he had a strong passion for mountain biking, skiing, and auto racing. His generosity, unifying spirit, and strong sense of duty will leave a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. <\/span><\/p>

A respected and beloved colleague, S\u00e9bastien leaves a tremendous void within our team. The memory of his smile will remain forever etched in our hearts. <\/span><\/p>

S\u00e9bastien Groulx was a seasoned nurse, a former Olympic weightlifter, and above all, an extraordinary human being. His journey embodied excellence, discipline, and deep generosity. <\/span><\/p>

Since joining Airmedic in December 2020, S\u00e9bastien quickly became a respected figure. He shared his knowledge with passion, helping train a significant part of the medical team and leaving a lasting impact on Airmedic\u2019s practices. <\/span><\/p>

Before joining Airmedic, S\u00e9bastien dedicated over 13 years to Charles-Le Moyne Hospital\u2014first as part of the rapid response team, then in emergency care starting in 2012, where he served as a preceptor. This wealth of experience prepared him to act decisively in critical situations, make informed decisions, and support his colleagues with calm and determination. <\/span><\/p>

S\u00e9bastien shone not only through his clinical skills but also through his profound passion for his profession. Always ready to answer the call, he took part in meaningful projects. He knew that behind every flight was a life to protect, a family to comfort. His love for his work led him to extend his career, staying true to his calling until the very end. <\/span><\/p>

But beyond the professional was the man: caring, humble, and unifying. A colleague everyone loved to see, a friend you could rely on. A devoted and present father, he embodied in his family life the same qualities that made him such an admirable professional. <\/span><\/p>

S\u00e9bastien leaves a deep mark on our lives, on our team, and in our collective heart. We already miss him, but his legacy will live on in each of us. <\/span><\/p>
