Airmedic announces a new operations base in Sept-Îles
Sept-Îles, April 9, 2018 – In emergency medicine, every minute counts. Airmedic is therefore launching a new operations base in Sept-Îles. This project further reduces response time and improves service delivery in a region located far from major healthcare centers.
Starting today, a Pilatus PC-12 aircraft is stationed at the Sept-Îles airport. It will support interfacility transport. Thus, patients will quickly receive care in the hospitals best suited to their condition.
Enhanced emergency medical service on the Côte-Nord
Airmedic now relies on an experienced team ready to respond quickly. These professionals aim to support emergency medical services in Côte-Nord communities and businesses.
“We are pleased to establish a presence in Sept-Îles. The geographic and medical realities justify strengthening the existing service for the population. This new air base is possible thanks to the relationships we have built with the community. Above all, it is based on the culture of excellence and commitment of our employees, who have shaped our reputation,” said Sophie Larochelle, Executive Vice President.
Quebec is a vast territory where transportation poses a major challenge in medical emergencies. Long distances make access to care more complex. Indeed, specialized healthcare facilities are concentrated in major urban centers. Thus, the new operations base in Sept-Îles fills a significant gap. It improves accessibility and speeds up medical evacuations in remote areas.
“Today’s announcement marks another step in our growth. It also confirms the complementary role of the Airmedic team within Quebec’s healthcare ecosystem,” added Ms. Larochelle.
