Emergency call center: a 911-level dispatch system at Airmedic
SAINT-HUBERT, QC, December 10th 2017 – Airmedic is proud to announce the recent implementation of a new dispatch system at its emergency call center: Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD). Comparable to the system used by 911 centers, this software is a complete solution for call management and dispatch. Uniquely, it has been fully adapted to the environment of air medical emergency evacuations, a first in Quebec.
A custom technological adaptation for the emergency call center
Given this specialized environment, adapting the software required a full year of programming. Airmedic operates according to proven rapid-response principles. Indeed, this approach can mean the difference between life and death or prevent severe long-term consequences for someone in distress. Therefore, this software integrates seamlessly into emergency operations, where every minute counts.
“The role of the nurses coordinating our center is crucial. On duty 24/7, they are at the heart of the immediate care process for our members. These teams coordinate evacuation procedures. They assist in locating injured individuals and deploying teams. They also support families while collaborating with emergency services and first responders. Implementing the CAD system provides the most advanced tool. Thus, this essential system strengthens Airmedic’s distinction and confirms our leadership for the population,” said Sophie Larochelle, Airmedic Executive Vice President.
Increased performance in emergency coordination
This innovation enables Airmedic to further enhance efficiency when coordinating and assigning emergency teams from the moment a call is received. Indeed, acquiring this system adds to Airmedic’s many strategic investments. Thus, the company reinforces its leadership role in air emergency medical services.
