Québec medical transport expertise at the heart of a global event
St-Hubert, June 9th 2025 – Airmedic for the Montreal Grand Prix / Before drivers can take to the track on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit, one condition is imperative: a heliborne medical evacuation system must be in place, enabling the evacuation of an injured person to the Sacré-Coeur-de-Montréal hospital in less than 20 minutes. This is a strict requirement of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). Without this state-of-the-art medical air cover, no race can be authorized.
From June 12 to 15, Airmedic’s airborne team and Sacré-Coeur’s trauma staff will be multiplying the hours of intensive simulation to ensure perfect coordination and a rapid, safe response in line with international standards.

A critical care model for all of Quebec
This partnership between Airmedic, Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur-de-Montréal and the Canadian Grand Prix is more than just an event. It embodies the vision of modern, integrated and rapid heliborne medical transport, capable of shortening the distances between the regions of Quebec and specialized care.
“The model we’re applying here, in a high-pressure urban environment, demonstrates what’s possible province-wide,” says Louis-Philippe Loiselle Fortier, Vice-President, Strategic Initiatives and Business Development, Airmedic.
Québec expertise at the heart of a global event
This partnership is a perfect illustration of Quebec’s ability to shine on the international healthcare and medical aviation scene. Airmedic, a 100% Quebec company, embodies high-level professionalism and know-how in a field where every second counts. Its acquisition, in 2023, by the paramedical organization Dessercom, has made it possible to consolidate this expertise right here at home, keeping specialized jobs and economic spin-offs in Quebec – a strategic move that directly benefits Quebecers. By providing air medical coverage for the Montreal Formula 1 Grand Prix, Airmedic is demonstrating that local excellence can meet the highest international standards.
“The Montreal Grand Prix can count on a 100% Quebec safety net. We are the only organization in Quebec capable of delivering this level of expertise, speed and airborne medical coordination,” adds Louis-Philippe Loiselle Fortier.
