Discover the role of a medical logistics agent!
While the propellers start spinning, heroes work behind their computers, contributing day after day to our mission. Indeed, Airmedic could not save lives across Quebec at any time without the help of a medical logistics agent, an essential member who ensures that our medical staff never runs out of what they need.
Airmedic gives the spotlight to Marie-Michelle Fortier, medical logistics agent, who is motivated by the feeling that her daily work is tangible and immediately useful. Working in logistics, the days pass quickly. The role requires versatility, adaptability, attention to detail, precision, and above all, a love for teamwork.
All these qualities are embodied by Marie-Michelle, who enjoys finding new ways to improve her work and increase efficiency. She also likes discussing with her colleagues in the aviation and medical sectors to understand how her work directly impacts theirs, allowing her to adjust her approach and make their daily operations easier.

1. What does a typical workday look like for you?
My days are always unpredictable. I start by checking my emails, then summarize key points with my colleague. Often, a teammate will approach me with an in-person request. Essentially, I start by checking for urgent tasks that need immediate attention. Otherwise, new requests are added to my task list from the previous day. My tasks include:
- Ordering and receiving supplies, mainly medical supplies, office materials, accommodations, and other permanent Airmedic bases;
- Planning annual maintenance and repairs for biomedical equipment;
- Measuring or fitting uniforms for new medical and administrative team members;
- Occasionally running in-person errands;
- Inspecting medical kits;
- Booking taxis and rental cars for special projects;
- Training new employees;
- And, of course, any other tasks related to logistics and supply management.
2. What is the greatest advantage of this job for you?
The variety of experiences it offers and the fact that our work can save lives even if we don’t directly see the impact.
3. A memory or anecdote you’d like to share?
When I first joined Airmedic, before starting my official training, I became an expert in assembling IKEA and Uline furniture! It really shows the variety of tasks one can be asked to do in my department.
4. What is little-known about your work as a medical logistics agent?
Tasks that seem simple from the outside often require a lot of thought and multiple steps. For example, placing an order can take time, which highlights the importance of planning ahead and relying on everyone’s collaboration.

- The variety of tasks
