Emergency Air Care in Québec
Airmedic Remains Under Québec Ownership
LÉVIS, August 31, 2023 – Dessercom has become the new owner of Airmedic, a Québec leader in emergency air medical care, ensuring that the company remains under Québec ownership. Therefore, this $54-million transaction will secure the organization’s long-term stability and support its continued growth.
Finally, this acquisition was made possible through the financial support of Fédération des caisses Desjardins du Québec and Capital régional et coopératif Desjardins.
Serving All of Québec, at All Times
Airmedic remains the only private company offering medical assistance services in Québec. Therefore, it continues to deliver safe and adapted emergency air care, regardless of the situation. Since 2012, Airmedic crews have carried out more than 8,370 missions across the province.
“Today, we welcome more than 10 years of expertise in medical assistance and air transport. This unique know-how includes emergency medical evacuations by helicopter and airplane. Therefore, this acquisition aligns directly with our mission to improve healthcare in Québec. It also supports our goal to diversify our services,” said Maxime Laviolette, President and Chief Executive Officer of Dessercom.
Healthcare organizations will continue to benefit from Airmedic’s expertise. Mining and forestry companies will also maintain access to these specialized services. In addition, individuals living in remote regions, especially First Nations communities, will still be able to count on Airmedic.
The management team and roughly 150 employees remain in place to ensure uninterrupted service. The company will continue operating as an autonomous entity from Saint-Hubert, Québec.
“We are pleased to look toward the future with a partner that has delivered prehospital emergency services for 40 years and shares our values of excellence and compassion. Therefore, Dessercom will bring stability for both our operations and our employees, and will guide the leadership team as we advance several projects that matter deeply to us,” added Sophie Larochelle, Chief Executive Officer of Airmedic.
