Discover the role of team leader – flight planning

From pilots to customer service agents, and from medical personnel to aircraft maintenance technicians, the air transport sector offers a wide range of interesting careers. As part of our 10th anniversary, we are highlighting 10 positions to discover at Airmedic. One of them is the team leader – flight planning, held by Jacynthe Proulx.
Jacynthe started in January 2021 at the heart of operations as a flight coordinator. She quickly grasped the very essence of Airmedic. Thanks to this understanding, she now holds the position of team leader at the coordination center – flight planning. Every day, she is driven by achieving Airmedic’s short-, medium-, and long-term objectives. Her team, which makes her days more enjoyable, is also a great source of inspiration. What attracted you to Airmedic?
A combination of my passions and experiences: aviation, emergency coordination, and medical care.
I completed my studies as a paramedic in 2017. I then worked as an emergency communications officer for a major police force. At the same time, I worked for several airlines primarily serving Northern Quebec. For me, Airmedic represents the perfect mix of my interests and skills. Above all, I strongly believe in its mission.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
I don’t have a typical day. My main goal is to provide continuous presence and support for the coordination center team, and one of the major projects I’m currently working on is optimizing the coordination center. We have just completed a large Lean analysis, and the working groups are now underway, which occupies a significant part of my days.
What, in your opinion, is little known about your job?
I work closely with almost all other divisions since the coordination center is really the heart of our operations. I may even meet with corporate clients alongside the business development department to validate certain details with them, or plan table-top simulations – a simulation where only the call is practiced and not the deployment – to be ready in case of a real emergency evacuation.
What is the greatest advantage of this job for you?
I enjoy a lot of freedom in terms of tasks and projects. Since we are growing rapidly, it is highly motivating because there is no shortage of challenges.
What do you like the most about your job?
I love when things move fast, and at Airmedic, there’s never a dull moment – it’s truly stimulating. The team spirit and the amazing colleagues I work with are also one of the main reasons I enjoy my job so much.
