Please note that your Airmedic protection is neither transferable nor refundable. If you are planning an expedition, a hike, or a trip with individuals who are not covered by Airmedic protection, be sure to inform them that, in the event of an emergency, they will not be entitled to the privileges provided by your coverage.

Airmedic manages its interventions based on various medical and operational criteria; the decision regarding the mode of deployment rests solely with Airmedic.

Rescue operations are carried out by helicopter or airplane when the geographic situation and the individual’s medical condition justify it. Depending on the assessment of the situation by medical and paramedical staff, ground ambulance transportation may also be used. For helicopter or airplane transfers, patients are transported to the hospital best suited to their medical condition.

Definition and Scope of Services

The services offered by Airmedic include pre-hospital medical care as well as air and ground evacuation in the event of an emergency, in accordance with the conditions outlined below. Airmedic reserves the right to restrict or refuse access to its services depending on medical circumstances, operational constraints, geographic considerations, or any other unforeseen factors.

Airmedic’s helicopter medical evacuation operations are available during daytime only, for an indefinite period. Our coordination center, supported by clinical staff, remains fully operational 24/7 to receive and process all pre-hospital evacuation requests. Nighttime medical evacuations will continue to be carried out in collaboration with the Sûreté du Québec or by ground ambulance, when the situation and weather conditions permit.

Exclusion of Liability and Limitation of Liability

Airmedic cannot be held responsible for delays or the inability to provide services due to circumstances beyond its control. While Airmedic is committed to delivering the fastest and most effective medical assistance possible, its helicopter and air operations may be hindered by conditions outside its control, such as: operational or medical imperatives; weather conditions posing risks to passenger safety; natural disasters, invasion, war, acts of terrorism, or any other force majeure. In such circumstances, Airmedic may delegate — in whole or in part — a rescue operation to third-party organizations such as ground ambulance services, the Sûreté du Québec, the Canadian Forces, or others.

In the event of force majeure, Airmedic will take all reasonable measures to minimize the impact on the service provider.

Validity of Coverage – Individuals

The “Individual” coverage is strictly reserved for private, personal, and recreational activities. It is not valid under any circumstances for professional, economic, commercial, or volunteer activities carried out in an organizational context. This includes, but is not limited to, any tasks performed as part of paid employment, a work contract, a corporate assignment, or an income-generating activity.

Escort

The final decision regarding the presence of an escort in the aircraft rests with the pilot. Dogs are not permitted*.

Service Activation

To activate your Airmedic services, the policyholder must contact the Airmedic emergency call center by dialing the dedicated number. A physician or coordinating nurse will conduct a full assessment of medical needs and determine the appropriate mode of transport, in accordance with the criteria described in the “Operational Specifications” section.

Information and Cooperation Requirements

The policyholder agrees to provide Airmedic with all relevant medical information concerning their health and that of designated beneficiaries before or during a service request. Failure to comply with this obligation may result in a limitation of services.

Data Privacy

Airmedic respects the confidentiality of its users’ personal and medical data in accordance with applicable privacy laws. The information collected will be used solely for the provision of emergency services and the administrative management of the coverage. It will not be shared with third parties without the user’s prior consent, except where required by law.

Geographic Restrictions

Airmedic services are available only within the geographic areas specified by the company, subject to operational constraints and accessibility conditions. Holders of a temporary 10-day subscription cannot access Airmedic services without additional fees if located north of the ^51st parallel. Furthermore, a minimum area of 100 feet by 100 feet is required for helicopter landing, or a flat/safe space for medical team drop-off. In such cases, the helicopter may perform a “hover deplanning” maneuver.

Pricing

Airmedic coverage includes pre-hospital transportation to the nearest or most appropriate hospital based on the client’s needs, full support from the moment the call is received by our dispatch center, and care provided by our nurses, paramedics, and/or respiratory therapists — all at no additional cost following the purchase of a subscription. The services included in the subscription are limited to the individual whose name appears on the coverage. No additional fees are charged to the holder after the purchase of a subscription, provided all conditions are met.

Any other person wishing to benefit from Airmedic’s services must pay the applicable additional fees, i.e., $87.50 per minute for helicopter transport.

Renewal

Only annual memberships — whether individual, couple, family, or single-parent — will receive a renewal notice one month prior to the expiration date. It is therefore the responsibility of holders of temporary or seasonal subscriptions to verify their own expiration date and renew accordingly.

Operational Specifications

Airmedic helicopter services are deployed when the patient presents symptoms requiring immediate care in a hospital. The decision regarding the mode of transport is made by the medical manager in collaboration with the administrative manager, taking into account several factors, including:

• The patient’s instability during the initial telephone assessment;
• The nature and severity of the medical emergency;
• Whether the area is accessible by ground ambulance;
• Weather conditions;
• The risk of deterioration before the arrival of first responders or during ground transport to the hospital;
• Inability to access the hospital within a timeframe appropriate to the patient’s condition;
• Inability of the local emergency response center to adequately manage the case.

When Airmedic determines that air transport is required in the patient’s best interest, Airmedic will confirm the intervention. Our target deployment time is between 60 and 75 minutes after the initial call. It should be noted that during deployment, the patient’s clinical condition will be continuously reassessed by the medical team, and the mode of transport will be adjusted accordingly.

Review of Terms and Conditions

Airmedic reserves the right to modify or update the terms and conditions of this coverage at any time without prior notice. Users will be informed of changes through the appropriate communication channels. Continued use of Airmedic services following any modification constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
