European flight simulator accredited by Transport Canada thanks to Airmedic
Saint-Hubert, October – For the first time in Canada, thanks to Airmedic’s efforts, Canadian Pilatus PC-12 air operators can now train their pilots in Switzerland on an accredited flight simulator unique in Europe. In fact, this milestone was made possible through close collaboration with Transport Canada and Fly 7 Training, a European leader in aviation training. Following a rigorous two-month process, Transport Canada approved the use of their simulators. This authorization, effective since September 6, 2023, applies specifically to Pilatus PC-12 NG/NGX training.
An Accredited Flight Simulator for an Immersive Experience
This accredited PC-12 flight simulator, located at La Blécherette Airport in Lausanne, Switzerland, offers an immersive and safe training experience. As a result, pilots can develop their skills in conditions equivalent to real flight. This ensures that captains and first officers acquire the competencies they need to excel in aviation, both in terms of practical skills and essential theoretical knowledge. The program consists of three full days of comprehensive training, featuring seven hours in the certified flight simulator. The training concludes with a practical session aboard an aircraft. Therefore, this approach ensures a smooth transition from ground-based training to real-world flight operations.
Airmedic, a Pioneer in PC-12 Training in Canada
“Airmedic is proud to be the first Canadian company to use Fly 7 Training’s services to train its PC-12 pilots. Our efforts open the door for dozens of Canadian operators flying the PC-12 to access additional training opportunities. This initiative clearly demonstrates the company’s commitment to innovation and strengthens Airmedic’s position as a leader in the Canadian aviation industry,” said Sophie Larochelle, Chief Executive Officer of Airmedic.
“By obtaining this accreditation, Fly 7 confirms its expertise in PC-12 crew training in both the European and international context. In fact, this certification reinforces our position as the only European provider offering PC-12 NGX simulator training. We stand out in the field of pilot training, and we are very excited to welcome Airmedic’s pilots. Our team is ready to support them in achieving their proficiency goals on the Pilatus platform,” said Kristina Ndiaye, Sales Director at Fly 7 Training.
The Pilatus PC-12: An Aircraft Made for Québec
Since its certification in 1994, the Pilatus PC-12 has been designed, manufactured, and supported from the company’s facility in the heart of Switzerland. The aircraft stands out for its medevac capabilities, versatility, and ability to land on short and gravel runways, making it an ideal platform for Airmedic’s operations. This is why the Québec-based company operates a fleet of six Pilatus PC-12 aircraft, which have completed more than 7,200 missions and transported over 12,000 patients.
