An unprecedented series of connected air ambulance flights
From July 16 to 27, 2025, Airmedic carried out an exceptional sequence of connected air ambulance flights. On board the Learjet 45XR, our team completed 27 flight segments, logged 55 hours and 35 minutes of airtime, and covered over 40,000 km. The destinations? From Canada to Europe, with stops in North Carolina, Cozumel, Lisbon, Italy, and Western Canada. Indeed, this series of international repatriations required a level of logistical coordination rarely achieved.

Creative solutions and operational agility
Despite weather constraints, airport restrictions, and long distances, our team adapted quickly and precisely. In fact, we implemented strategic crew changes at key stopovers. This allowed us to maintain high standards in safety, performance, and critical care. The team planned each mission segment with a tailor-made approach, using flexibility as a lever for performance. Consequently, thanks to precision logistics, we delivered consistent results, even in complex contexts.
This achievement is built on two fundamental pillars. Firstly, Airmedic has a complementary fleet capable of responding to all types of missions. Secondly, its strategic positioning at the heart of transatlantic corridors facilitates global connectivity and optimized planning.
A complementary fleet for tailor-made medical missions
At Airmedic, each mission benefits from a carefully considered aircraft selection. In particular, we rely on a complementary fleet capable of meeting a wide range of medical and logistical needs:
- Pilatus PC-12: ideal for short-haul flights. Economical and versatile, it can land on remote or hard-to-access runways. Its large cargo door also allows for quick stretcher loading, speeding up interventions.
- Learjet 45XR : perfect for long-distance missions. Its speed, range, and advanced medical configuration make it a top choice for international repatriations. In addition, on board, patients benefit from a comfortable pressurized cabin and continuous intensive care.

These aircraft can be deployed for various types of missions, including neonatal, psychiatric, infectious, obstetric, and even multi-patient care. Specifically, each flight is tailored to the patient’s condition, the destination, and stopover constraints.
Meanwhile, during this series of international flights, only the Learjet 45XR was deployed. However, our complete fleet allows us to optimize future missions. For example, a patient can be repatriated from Europe to Montreal by jet, then transferred to a more remote region of Quebec aboard a PC-12.
This strategy offers several concrete advantages :
- Continuous care without interruption, without a change of provider
- A reduction in overall costs
- Compliance with crew duty time, thanks to organized crew changes carried out in Montreal
Furthermore, this flexibility, combined with coordination between our medical and operational teams, ensures smooth, fast, and safe transport, even in the most demanding situations.

A strategic base to connect continents
Based in Montreal, Airmedic benefits from a unique strategic position. Accordingly, we can adjust flight plans via the northern corridor (Keflavik) or the southern corridor (Azores). This optimizes not only logistics, but also costs and response times. In addition, our central location facilitates missions between Europe, North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.

A solution-oriented approach
Every detail of these connected air ambulance flights was anticipated to ensure an uncompromising outcome:
- Stopover-to-stopover coordination with our international partners
- Planned international crew changes
- 24/7 activation with real-time operational flexibility
- Close collaboration between medical and operational teams to reduce takeoff delays
Indeed, this solution-oriented approach allows us to maintain quality and safety, regardless of the mission’s complexity.
Expertise in long-distance medical evacuations
The record of connected air ambulance flights carried out by Airmedic from July 16 to 27, 2025, illustrates our ability to combine logistics, technology, international standardization, and humanity. Each flight becomes much more than just a medical transfer. In short, it is a promise of safety, dignity, and expertise.
